Job Description:

Lead and manage the Project Team for key transportation African player in (O&M) Operations and maintenance, with international/global partnerships.
Lead all projects though the full project lifecycle – renewal projects, engineering changes, internal change, provincial and concessionaire variation notices.
Manage multi-disciplinary project engineering team within all engineering disciplines.

Desired traits: Negotiation and decision-making ability; possess analytical, problem solving and critical ability to delegate, supervise and control.
Innovative, creative, and strategic thinking. With at least 7 years’ relevant experience in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation Engineering.
General technical knowledge in multi-disciplinary environment (civil, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation).
Project Management PMP Certification.
Knowledge of Project and Contractor Management.

Position details:

Type: Permanent
Reports to: Scheduling and Project Manager.
Primary purpose: To maintain the operator’s assets and ensure that safety, quality and performance targets are achieved.
To execute maintenance policies, standards, procedures and ensure reliable and safe equipment.
To ensure seamless travel for our customers that is safe, reliable, comfortable and friendly.
To supervise and ensure the safe operation of plant and machinery.

Principal Accountabilities:
To lead and manage Project Team.
To lead all projects – renewal projects, engineering changes, internal change, provincial and concessionaire variation notices.
To manage multi-disciplinary project engineering team within all engineering disciplines.
To manage all projects though the full project lifecycle.
Review all Gauteng Transportation Infrastructure Act (GTIA) applications to determine the possible impacts on the Gautrain System.
Review all Revenue Enhancement Agreement (REA) applications to determine the possible impacts on the Gautrain System.
To participate to ensure Gautrain availability to a standard that will ensure maximum operational efficiency and maintain standards of product quality and service.
To participate and lead investigations of safety critical and serious failures.
Specific Responsibilities.
Ensure compliance of safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) standards.
Maintain high level of staff morale and job satisfaction.
Manage Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time bound objectives and performance.
Develop strategies and plans to meet all Business and Division requests and continually improve the standards of maintenance.
Update Manager and business on performance indicators.
Provide guidance and leadership to the Business and ensure achieving of service objectives.
Oversee the development of plans to optimise utilisation of resources and improve manpower productivity.
Take proactive role in site projects, representing the maintenance and engineering function.
Review and provide inputs into designs, construction works till handover, attending site visits and sign-off PICO, SAT and SIT after desnagging phase Review and respond to all GTIA (wayleave applications) within the agreed timelines.
Review and respond to all REA – Revenue Enhancement Applications within the agreed timelines.
Perform regular safety inspections and audits on contractors and system.
Implement and ensure effective Project and Contractor Management and compliance to all applicable regulations.
Update all applicable maintenance specifications and procedures.
Ensure minimum levels of equipment downtime including timely and effective response to breakdown.
Participate in all new projects including variations, renewals and change proposals.
Participate and advise for contractor and supplier selection in the tender process.
Scrutinise suppliers and subcontractors services, adherance to project specification and ensure all required contractual notification and documentation are submitted.
Advise line manager of anomalies in documents, specifications, and drawings by careful scrutiny.
Chair and record regular progress meetings with internal and external Clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Monitor adherence to project programme and key deadlines.
Maintain record of all documentation pertaining to all project.
Devise and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for managing project and contractor compliances.
Review and maintain quality documentation in line with quality management system requirements.
Ensure all drawings and documentation are in place for project handover.
Participate in system improvement processes.
All strategies and plans are developed to meet departmental objectives and continuous improvement.
Give inputs to Scheduling and Project Department budget.
Provide guidance and leadership to all sub-contractors and suppliers.
Compile monthly progress reports on all projects.
Abide to general housekeeping rules.

Advanced AutoCAD user

Language Ability:
Fluent in English

Years of Experience:
At least seven (7) years’ relevant experience in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation Engineering
