Job Description:
The Chief Commercial and Logistics Officer (CCLO) reports to the CEO and forms part of the EXCO Committee of the Company.
Direct Reports include the Procurement Manager, the SED Manager and Port & Logistics Manager.
Oversee the Commercial, Procurement, Social and Labour Plan performance and Logistics Operations.
This experienced Senior Commercial and Logistics Professional is responsible for:
Heading the entire commercial and procurement activities of the organization;
Continiously engaging and influencing Senior Transnet Executives to maximize and unlock rail allocation for the company.
Overseeing the Social & Labour Plan drafting, stakeholder engagement, seeking approval for the latest SLP submitted to DMRE, execution to plan thereof and annual performance reporting thereof.
Be the custodian of the Mining Charter Procurement Compliance and annual reporting.
The CCLO needs to exhibit attributes that will enable the company to operate at both operational and corporate levels to deliver both short and long-term objectives
Position details:
Oversee the day-to-day Commercial, Procurement, Logistics, Stakeholder & Regulator Engagements.
Leads Design and Execution of Strategy aligned to the portfolio, Business Plans, Budgets, Forecasts and Goals Set.
Maintain budgets and optimize expenses.
Maintains oversight of all functional reporting areas.
Set Policies, Procedures and Processes.
Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally.
Prepare regular reports for Top Management & Board.
Provide solutions to issues (e.g., raw materials supply consistency, extraordinary price increases, deteriorating rail performance, community demands)
Ensures statutory compliance.
Leads the development and implementation of the stakeholder (including community) relations strategy.
Key Area 1: Service Delivery
Ensures best practice service delivery by –
Implementing and managing commercial strategies that ensure delivery of manganese product into the market according to targets set.
Building and maintaining relationships with key internal interest groups and departments.
Contributing to the competitive edge of the Company through external networking and benchmarking in international and national industry forums.
Optimises systems and processes by –
Conducting regular commercial practice audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
Driving continuous system improvement processes.
Targeting process optimisation towards the company’s strategic advantage / competitive edge.
Conducting market, competitor, and macro level economic analyses.
Mapping business processes to evaluate lines of business for expansion.
Key Area 2: Operational Management
Oversees and controls the distribution of manganese product, by –
Determining the business value chain, aligned, and integrated with the Company strategy and business plan.
Managing contract finalisation, pricing, logistics and execution.
Planning for dispatch of consignment within the time limits.
Co-ordination with agents, port officials, charterer, and other transport companies for smooth operation.
Negotiating LC, Nomination of Vessel, and Calculation of dispatch for receivers.
Lay time calculation of the vessels, analysing vessel performance, and negotiating price with customer.
Key Area 3: People Management
Ensures ongoing effective management of staff and outsourced personnel, by –
Implementing established HR policies and practices.
Establishing effective communication processes to ensure understanding of and ‘buy-in’ to the company’s goals and aspirations.
Implementing succession planning, performance management, and skill and career development processes.
Key Area 4: Key Stakeholder Relationship Management
Enhances the company’s competitive advantage and standing in the industry, by managing the relationship with Transnet, statutory bodies, and competitors.
