1. Primary purpose of current/most recent position:
My responsibilities at present are as follows:
Identification of generator (60 – 600MW) spare parts for outages and quotation
Creating scope of work for generator outages
Provide engineering support during generator outages
Provide engineering support during generator rotor and stator rewinds
Provide recommendation and support on the operation and maintenance of the generator
2. Core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order to achieve primary purpose:
The problem and the location of the problem must be clearly defined. With this I am able to create a thorough scope of work and correctly identify the required spare parts to solve the problem.
3. Description of self, along with greater purpose and passions:
I have gained experience in electrification, electrical distribution system and generation. I have a clear understanding of the interconnection of the energy system and the importance of it. After being exposed in all these different disciplines, I know now more than ever where my passion and interest lies. I have enjoyed working with the rural electrification network, analysing the electrical distribution network and identifying ways to optimise the network. The experience I have gained has prepared me for a position in the electrical distribution industry and I have no doubt that this is the work I am passionate about and cannot wait to be back in the electrical distribution or transmission industry.

7. Career summary:
2 years in electrical distribution (Eskom distribution)
1 Year in consulting company (Rural electrification)
4 years in services (Maintenance of generators)
8. Achievements:
During the preparation for the rewind I optimised the rotor rewind tool list by connecting with the client to get access to their workshop to see the set up and the available tools in the workshop. After the assessment I realised that with the workshop configuration some of the tools we had in our list are not required. Thus, the list was reduced saving the customer money and lead time as less tools were required.
